Who is Dorothy Draper and why does she inspire me so much?
Preface :__ Reading through my project will inform you of Mrs. Dorothy Draper and her interpretation of the art of interior design/decor. In my opinion she was the most gifted pioneer in her profession. Her style was big, brash, bodacious, and bold. Otherwise known as modern contemporary. while you may enjoy this you also may hate it. For instance if you do not like contemporary art, 60's style contemporary design, cool colors, or funky shapes I suggest you not waste your time here. However, if you are in fact into these types of things I encourage you to go forth an indulge yourself in the art that is interior design/decor.
About the author: Hey there, the names Ashley.I was born in New York I lived in North Carolina for a while and in kindergarten through first grade I talked with a southern accent. But the real reason I'm doing this project on interior design/decor is because it is what I love and is the type of thing I hope to do when I'm older. I am in love with the idea that I can decorate or design a room that can reflect a persons personality or set the tone of a business. I love bright colors,odd shapes,and different petterns. there are different styles of desingnig and decorating. My personal favorite is contemporary modern. I like the look of it and it is easy to find inspiration for it. My inspiration mainly comes from the 20's through the 70's. It also comes from things that I see around me. I wasn't really interested in this line of work untill the beginning or maybe the middle-ish part of my freshman year. Im glad that I've found something I think is worth my time that is fun and interesting
Acknowledgements: There is one and only one person who i would like to thank for the fabulous idea of interior design: Me. If I try to think of a person responsible for getting me into this kind of stuff, I cant think of anyone but myself. From a small age I've always moved things around in my room and created things to put on my walls and to maximise space. I didnt know what it was called or even that there was a specific name for it. It wasn't untill I discovered televison channels such as: HGTV, DIY, and TLC that I knew it was a persuable carrer. If theres no one person I can thank for this dicovery than why base my project on Dorothy Draper? Well as far as inspiration goes shes full of it, for me at least. While she is a new inspiration she definitely is the strongest in my mind. Her style, the way she works, and even her outlook on life is inspiring to me on a level that deserves recognition. This project will do just that.
